Yaoshang Festival is one of the most vibrant and widely celebrated festivals in Manipur, marking the arrival of spring and beginning on the full moon day of Phalguna. Celebrated over five days, it is similar to Holi, where people play with colors, enjoy cultural performances like Thabal Chongba, and participate in various sports and community activities. Children collect donations known as “Nakatheng,” and the entire state comes alive with joy, unity, and festive spirit, making Yaoshang a true reflection of Manipuri culture and tradition.
