Lai Haraoba
Lai Haraoba is one of the oldest and most significant traditional festivals of Manipur, meaning “Merry Making of the Gods,” and is celebrated to honor the local deities known as Umang Lai. The festival is deeply rooted in the cultural and spiritual traditions of the Meitei community, featuring rituals, music, and the famous Maibi dance that symbolically represents the creation of the universe and human life. Celebrated over several days across different regions, Lai Haraoba beautifully showcases the rich heritage, beliefs, and artistic expressions of Manipur.
