explosion and smoke over open field

Four killed after violence flares in India’s Manipur state

At least four people were killed in fresh violence in Manipur, including two children who died in a bomb explosion in the Bishnupur district. Later, two more people were killed when police opened fire to control a mob that had stormed a security forces camp.
The incident triggered protests, clashes, and tension across Imphal and nearby areas, leading authorities to impose a curfew and suspend internet services to prevent further unrest. This violence is part of the ongoing ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities, which has been continuing since 2023 and has already caused hundreds of deaths and large-scale displacement.
